The Outback is available with three efficient and capable versions of the Lineartronic® CVT, one linked to the 2.5-litre 4-cylinder and the other two paired with the turbocharged 2.4-litre 4-cylinder. These transmissions have been refined for greater efficiency, reduced noise and heightened driveability. Each drivetrain is fully integrated with the Subaru Symmetrical Full-Time AWD system to create unsurpassed levels of control and confidence under all possible conditions. These drivetrains give the Outback the superior performance of a full-time AWD utility with the fuel-efficiency of a front-wheel drive vehicle.
X-MODE®
The 2024 Outback comes equipped with one of three different versions of the capable X-MODE® system, which allows you to tackle the steepest of inclines with even more confidence. On the standard version, the touchscreen functions control the operation of the VDC and X-MODE® together. The Onyx trim level comes standard with dual-function X-MODE®, which features even more capability in tough conditions. Meanwhile, the enhanced dual-function version, available exclusively on the Outback Wilderness trim level, has touchscreen controls that let you select between two different settings tailored to specific driving conditions—namely, snow/dirt and deep snow/mud, both settings available even at higher speeds.
EyeSight® Advanced Driver Assist System
This award-winning safety system comes standard on all versions of the Subaru Outback. The latest-generation system incorporates new cameras with a wider field of view to better monitor activity on the road ahead, help identify potentially dangerous situations and provide assistance to the driver when needed most. Standard now on all trims is the new wide-angle mono camera, which dramatically boosts the effectiveness of the EyeSight® system. On all Outback models, EyeSight® incorporates several advanced active-safety systems: Pre-collision Braking, Pre-collision Brake Assist, Pre-collision Throttle Management, Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Centring Assist, Lane Departure Warning, Lane Sway Warning, Lane Keep Assist and Lead Vehicle Start Alert.
